School Valentine's Party

Every kid's favorite party at school, the Valentine's Party. Ok I won't say every kid, but those Kindergarten kids LOVE Valentines. It's what makes their world go round, getting little cards from their friends with candy, in a decorated bag. Melissa asked me every day for 3 weeks when it was time for a Valentine's party. We put her hair into a heart to wear to school, which everyone loved and especially her. It felt like Valentine's Day threw up at our house. We had to get things for everyone this year...we had a lot of fun this year doing Valentines day at our house. Melissa gave Grandma and Grandpa mini rose bushes and a single rose, and they got a gift bag of candy. Melissa got a turtle and some other fun things. Steve was so excited to get a bear that he thought was a little too fuzzy. It was fun anyway!

ORANGE you glad we know how to have fun!!

Melissa has finally decided that oranges are yummy. I decided to show her that oranges are fun too! I remember doing this in school ALL the time. Those oranges were HUGE, so Melissa had to improvise the ORANGEy smile. Now she wants her oranges in wedges so she can have orange teeth. Oh the simple things that make an impression. I love this age. I can't believe she is in the second half of her Kindergarten year. The time flies by too fast...in a month and a half she will be 6 years old!! She is growing up right before me and it's going too fast.

Toothless!!

Thank goodness for Grandmas!! I hate the toothpulling business, so I gladly send her Grandma's way. This tooth has been loose since way before Christmas. She stopped wiggling it, and we had to work on it again...It finally came out thanks to Grandma's gentle convincing and a good strong pull. Now if we can get the other one out, that will be a happy day!!!

Steve's Birthday

I love Steve's birthday, I have to make a note of it, because I always look forward to Steve's birthday. I do believe the last 4 years, he has worn this red sweatshirt. Hence the reason, I can't tell which birthday it is by what he is wearing because he's worn the red sweatshirt for 4 years in a row on his birthday. I think it is hilarious. Steph decided to buy him a blue sweatshirt this year, we have yet to see it on him, he sure does love this red one though. I have never seen anyone blow out candles like him though...SERIOUSLY...he blew out 37 candles in ONE HUGE SHORT BREATH...I was completely amazed!! I love that Melissa picked out a Kermit the Frog hat for him...he likes it a lot. He

He wears it to work underneath the hood of his coat. It's great. I haven't seen him wear my superman shirt yet though. I thought it was a cool one. I love that he unwraps a present and poses with it. He won't move until you say that you've taken the picture before he moves on...I LOVE IT. I did give him 37 spankings that day, he was trying to protest, but was giggling too hard to protest too much.  Happy Birthday Steve, you'll always be older than me!!

Birthday

Number 31!!! I didn't think I could top last year's 30 party...but I was pleasantly surprised with how well my day went. It started with a homemade breakfast from Melissa (microwave popcorn, cheese, and a ginger cookie and orange juice to wash it down) Steve serenaded me and Steph and the kids took me to browse at the library. We had a great party with great food...right now my favorite is chicken teriyaki and pineapple, so we had chicken sandwiches and chocolate eclairs for dessert. YUMMO!! I loved all of my presents, and am so thankful for ALL the wonderful birthday wishes from friends and family on facebook. What a great day!!!

Pinewood Derby

What a good turnout! The day before my birthday we held the pinewood derby. This was the first time I've ever made a pinewood derby car and mine won the sibling race!!! Woo Hoo!! Very nice! It took me a total of a couple of hours to make my car, I was very proud of myself!
I was even more proud of the boys!! They showed the best sportsmanship of any 8-10 year old boys I've ever seen. They were genuinely happy for one another and did very well with the race! The cars they made were well made and very creative. Overall it was a great night, and everyone enjoyed themselves!! Go pack 70!!!
