The last week of school...pure craziness.

The 24th of May Elena graduated from 5th grade...on to middle school for her! So exciting

The 24th was also Tony's birthday...38! We had lots of fun, we tried out our fire pit for the first time roasting marshmallows. Good times! We had Mom and Dad Olsen and Mom and Dad Flores and Mike. So fun!
Erin got a citizenship award at school...it doesn't surprise me, she is such a kindhearted girl and will do anything for anyone. So proud of her!
I'm so proud of Melissa too! She got an award for being tolerant of her fellow classmates. She is a really good friend to the kids in her class. I have noticed that from the time she was small she always befriends the kids that really need a friend. She has a kind heart and is very welcoming to anyone.
Tony Jr. got to race his car in the pinewood derby the last day of school. So fun for him, he won a couple races, but for the most part had a lot of fun watching all the cars race.

The day before Memorial day we took a drive up to Dry Creek so that we could visit Joe. It's always so nice to go up there and just be there. Melissa loves it there, and I love that Tony likes to go up there with us. It makes me happy that he is so supportive and willing to do whatever it takes to help us continue to have Joe a part of our lives. He's a keeper for sure! I really need to do better with this blog and write more often so I'm not cramming all these events into one post. I would like to go into them more. I will try better!

Kindergarten Graduation for Anna

Yay for Anna finishing Kindergarten...now she gets to go everyday!! That is good for everyone! Hooray! Hooray! So we have a picture with her with her teacher, with her Kindergarten diploma, and with her mom AND me. It was an interesting day, but I'm glad it went okay. It will be nice to not worry about school for awhile...it will only take a week or two and I'll be so glad they are back in school I know. For now I will just enjoy the sleeping in and no homework.

4 months!!

We must be doing something right...Elly is now 4 months old! Yay! Her personality is really starting to show and I love it :-) It's easy to make her smile...takes a bit of work to make her laugh...and watch out if you make her mad because she will yell at you. It's not crying...it's just yelling. She has found her toes and LOVES to play with them. As soon as you lay her down, up come her legs and she is playing with her toes. Her fingers have found her mouth too. If the binky isn't in there she has her fingers in the mouth chewing on them. She loves to eat, but she doesn't like some of the kids feeding her. She really likes to be in her bouncer while she eats her bottle. Sometimes she'll let me feed her, but other times she would rather do it on her own. She sleeps through the night now. YAY! She puts herself to sleep...mostly with the blanket over her face. She puts it over her face and rubs it while she sucks on her binky.  She giggles at the most random times. She won't when you are trying to, but when you randomly say something or when she is just in a mood she will burst out in a giggle. It's pretty funny. She did it the other day when I was changing her diaper and between diapers she started peeing and I let out a little squeal that sent her into giggles. So cute. Anyway, for the stats this month:

Weight: 12.5 lbs. (17th percentile)
Height: 23.75 (16th percentile)
Head: 15.75  inches (33rd percentile)

She is just a little bug, but moving right along...learning all sorts of new things and making us smile everyday. We sure do love our Elizabeth.

Melissa's baptism

I've been anticipating this day for a long time...it has weighed heavily on me from the moment I knew her father wasn't going to be alive to perform this ordinance. I very much believe that one of the reasons the two of us finding Tony and his family when we did was for Melissa to be baptized by Tony. He has filled that role in her life beautifully.

As he was confirming Melissa and she had all these hands on her head, Tony told me later that he had to push the hands up as he was confirming her so she didn't get too weighed down. That made me laugh...that's a lot of heavy hands on a little head!
I sure do love this family. We, like all families, have our ups and downs and we struggle. Along with our struggles and tears we have found love, laughter, and some resemblance of understanding with each other. We take it a day at a time.
What a beautiful dress Grandma Olsen made for her. She loves it so much and she looks so beautiful in it. I am so blessed to have her as a daughter. She is so helpful, kind, and beautiful inside and out. She is spunky and funny and it's never boring with her in the house that is for sure. I am so proud of the decision she made to be baptized. She has taken it very seriously, she is always trying to be better and make good choices. She recognizes when she does things wrong and really tries to work on it. I am so proud of her. She is turning into a wonderful young lady. She loves her brother and sisters and is quite a little mother to Elly. She always wants to help me with Elly. She loves to play with her, feed her, burp her, change her diaper, and she LOVES to dress her up. Elly very much loves her too.
This blanket was made for Melissa by her Aunt Stephanie Green. I had given Stephanie some of Joe's clothes so that she could make a blanket for Melissa and I was very surprised when she had it done for her baptism. Talk about a room full of crying people. It was a very sweet moment that I am sure not one of those people will forget. Joe's testimony was put on the quilt as well and Kristi read it to her. I am grateful that I had the prompting on her birthday to pull the letter out and read it to her before then so I could explain it. I had always wanted to be the one to read it to her first and I'm glad I took the opportunity. I hope the way I explained it helped as Kristi read it to her again. We have been very blessed to have the family we do. It was pretty crazy to try and get 3 different families together, but we did it and it worked out so well. It was an amazing day with an amazing sweet spirit that filled our hearts. I know Joe is very happy with her and with how far we have come. As much as I wanted him to be able to do it, I know it happened exactly the way it was supposed to and he is happy watching down on us.

Melissa's 1st Mother Daughter activity for Activity Days

Activity Days...so fun I got to go to a Mother Daughter activity with Elena and Melissa for Activity Days. Elly was so lucky to go too! We had a "pig-nic" and ate food, played a game, and took silly pictures. It was so much fun!

The picture of the dish...I'm still giggling because of this one. So Melissa read the invitation that said, "bring your favorite dish" So we get there and she brings out this plate and I ask her why she brought a plate. She said "because it said, bring your favorite dish, so I did!" I explained what it meant and she got all embarrassed. She then decided she needed to hide it in the diaper bag and told me not to tell anyone. Here I am blogging about it, because someday I'm going to want to remember about bringing your favorite dish, and I'm pretty sure she will appreciate it and laugh about it someday right? I had a good time with Elena too. She has been excited to go with Melissa and I all week so I'm glad she got to come with us.
